Bangladesh have announced a strong 15-member squad for the men’s cricket event at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with Litton Kumer Das named captain. Litton will lead a side featuring several established internationals, including Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy and Mustafizur Rahman. Hridoy has been appointed vice-captain.
The squad also includes experienced campaigners Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Musaddek Hossain Saikat and Yasir Ali Chowdhury, while Rishad Hossain adds another spin option. Bangladesh have also retained a strong pace attack for the tournament, with Mustafizur joined by Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud and Shaif Uddin.
Parvez Hossain Emon and Mohammed Saif Hasan are among the batting options, with the squad offering a mix of experience and younger players. The Asian Games cricket event will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, where Bangladesh will look to build on their previous success in the competition. Cricket was introduced to the Asian Games in 2010, and Bangladesh won the men’s gold medal at the Guangzhou Games that year.
The BCB announced the squad on Wednesday, September 2, ahead of the tournament.
