More than 23,000 photography submissions from across Bangladesh have entered the final stage of the OPPO Photography Contest 2026, highlighting the growing use of smartphones as tools for creative expression among young people.
The contest, titled “Every Photo Tells a Story”, was organised by OPPO Bangladesh in partnership with Pathshala South Asian Media Institute as part of the OPPO Reno15 Series 5G campaign, according to a company press release.
The competition invited photography enthusiasts to capture everyday moments through smartphones across five categories — Portrait, Nature and Wildlife, Street and Architecture, Low Light, and Heritage and Culture.
OPPO said the record number of submissions reflects the increasing interest in mobile photography and the role of smartphone technology in enabling people to document and share personal stories.
The contest has reached its grand finale on World Photography Day, with winners set to receive cash prizes, OPPO smartphones and photography courses from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute.
The grand winner will receive Tk100,000, an OPPO flagship smartphone and a photography course. The elite winner will receive Tk50,000, an OPPO smartphone and a course, while the master winner will receive Tk30,000 along with an OPPO smartphone and training opportunity.
Each category winner will receive Tk20,000, an OPPO smartphone and a photography course.
Damon Yang, general manager of OPPO Bangladesh Authorized Exclusive Distributor, said photography remains a key area of focus for the company as it works to make advanced imaging technology more accessible.
“Photography is one of the most powerful ways for young people to express who they are and how they see the world,” he said.
He said the response from more than 23,000 participants demonstrated the enthusiasm of Bangladesh’s creative community and added that OPPO would continue creating platforms to support photography and storytelling.
OPPO said its imaging technology development has focused on areas including selfie technology, artificial intelligence-powered imaging, portrait photography and night photography, with the aim of enabling users to capture and create more easily.
