Police recovered the body of a college teacher from a pond in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali on Monday, a day after he went missing.
The deceased was Mahmudun Nabi Samrat, 39, a lecturer at West Bank College and son of Moinul Haq Roton of Rampur Union.
Locals said Samrat left home Sunday morning and had been missing since. After family members failed to trace him, residents spotted his body floating in a mosque pond in front of a house in Rampur union on Monday morning. Relatives later identified the body.
Anwar Hossain, sub‑inspector of Companiganj Police Station, confirmed the recovery, saying police recovered the body around 11:30am after being informed by locals.
“An inquest report has been prepared on the spot. No injury marks were found on the body,” the SI said.
He added that the body will be sent to the morgue of the 250‑bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy. The exact cause of death will be determined after the report is available.
