Tickify, Bangladesh’s largest event ticketing platform, was selected as one of only 20 startups to showcase its innovation before Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the national event, “Youth, Startups and the Possibilities of Bangladesh,” held at the Senate Building of the University of Dhaka.
During the meeting, the prime minister expressed openness to supporting Tickify’s vision of developing Bangladesh into a stronger regional and global destination for entertainment, culture and live experiences, reads a press release.
During the discussion, the prime minister asked the founders how the government could support Tickify and what challenges the sector faced.
The Tickify team highlighted the need for clearer and more predictable regulatory processes for concerts, cultural programmes and international artist performances.
The founders said delays, regulatory uncertainty, inadequate infrastructure and last-minute event cancellations on security grounds create significant financial risks for organisers, artists, sponsors and other stakeholders.
Tickify also emphasised that a more coordinated and transparent framework involving organisers, law enforcement agencies and relevant government authorities could encourage more international artists and entertainment companies to include Bangladesh in their regional touring plans.
The event also marked the inauguration of the National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform, an initiative of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division.
The platform aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s startup ecosystem by providing entrepreneurs with networking opportunities, mentorship, investment and institutional support.
The Prime Minister also took part in an open discussion with startup founders and business owners on innovation, entrepreneurship and the development of the country’s startup ecosystem.
Tickify shared the exhibition floor with several of Bangladesh’s well-known startups, including iFarmer, Arogga, ShareTrip, Shikho and Truck Lagbe, highlighting the country’s growing innovation ecosystem.
“It was a proud milestone for Tickify to represent Bangladesh’s event tech ecosystem before the Honourable Prime Minister,” said Iftikhar Imam Ifty, founder and CEO of Tickify.
“We believe technology has the power to transform Bangladesh into a globally recognized entertainment and tourism destination. We remain committed to building world class digital infrastructure for events while working alongside public and private stakeholders to unlock the full potential of the country’s creative economy.”
