Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Limited has announced a total cash dividend of 445% for the year 2024, comprising a 340% interim dividend and a 105% final dividend. This marks the highest dividend payout in the company’s history since its 1985 listing on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
The declaration follows the company’s 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held virtually on Thursday, 26 June 2025, where shareholders approved the audited financial statements for 2024.
Despite a 26% year-on-year decline in profit to Tk 296 million, the board decided to distribute Tk 608.76 million in dividends, exceeding the annual profit. The additional amount will be covered by retained earnings, which stood at Tk 3.18 billion as of September 2024.
The company’s earnings per share for 2024 were Tk 21.62, down from Tk 29.31 in 2023. The dividend payout results in a yield of 5.57%, the highest for Bata since its listing.
The AGM was presided over by Chairman Rajeev Gopalakrishnan, with Managing Director Debabrata Mukherjee, Director Shaibal Sinha, Independent Director Farzanah Chowdhury, Finance Director Elias Ahmed, and Company Secretary Riajur Reza Muhammad Faisal also in attendance.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman Gopalakrishnan expressed gratitude to shareholders, customers, suppliers, employees, and the government for their continued support.
