Four vessels carrying a total of 1,38,000 tonnes of refined fuel oil have arrived at Chattogram Port, easing concerns over fuel supply in the country.
Of the total shipment, 1,10,651 tonnes consist of diesel, while 27,363 tonnes are octane, according to officials of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC).
A senior BPC official confirmed that all four fuel-laden vessels reached the port on Friday.
Among them, the Liberian-flagged MT Octary, carrying 35,346 tonnes of diesel, has already begun lightering operations at Alpha Anchorage and is expected to berth at the Dolphin Jetty on Saturday.
The other vessels currently anchored at Alpha Anchorage include the Portuguese-flagged MT Cape Bonny with 33,398 tonnes of diesel, the Cayman Islands-flagged MT Navy Cielo carrying 27,363 tonnes of octane, and the Chinese-flagged MT Lian Song Hu transporting 41,907 tonnes of diesel.
Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Syed Refaet Hamim said that three of the fuel-laden vessels originated from Malaysia, while one arrived from India.
BPC officials also said that additional fuel oil shipments are expected later this week and assured that there is currently no fuel shortage in the country.
