The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has frozen the bank accounts of seven celebrities for tax evasion, according to an official notification.

Sources indicate that bank accounts of 25 individuals have been seized, including seven prominent figures from the film and drama industry. The celebrities include actresses Moushumi, Nusraat Faria, Sabila Nur, Shabnam Parvin, and Nusrat Yasmin Tisha and actors Bapparaj and Ahmed Sharif.

The NBR has already issued notices regarding the matter, and letters have been sent to the addresses of the celebrities, confirmed a senior NBR official.

The official stated, “Several celebrities’ bank accounts have been frozen due to non-payment of taxes on time. Some have already cleared their dues, while others have sought additional time. Once the taxes are paid, all restrictions on their accounts will be lifted.”

Assistant Commissioner of NBR’s Tax Zone-12 Kazi Rehman Sajid told Times of Bangladesh, “We have frozen the accounts of 25 individuals, including seven celebrity artists.”
