The government has taken a strict stance against illegal hoarders to prevent artificial fuel crises in the country, announcing that individuals who provide specific information regarding the illegal stockpiling of fuel oil will be rewarded.
This information was shared by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources in a statement issued on Friday. According to ministry sources, monitoring teams have already been deployed in every district across the country to check on the supply of fuel oil.
An official announcement regarding the rewards for those who assist in curbing illegal hoarding is expected shortly. The ministry has, in the meantime, requested everyone to provide specific complaints and suggestions to the authorities.
In a related development, extensive operations have commenced at the field level to combat illegal hoarding. As part of these efforts, a raid was conducted in Patenga, Chattogram on Friday, resulting in the recovery of approximately 6,000 litres of diesel stored illegally in 30 drums.
The ministry further stated that district administrations are on high alert to maintain discipline in the energy sector, ensure a normal supply chain, and prevent illegal hoarding.
All oil depots, petrol pumps, and relevant fuel traders are currently under the close surveillance of the administration. These drives will continue regularly in public interest.
