Bangladesh Met Department forecasts light to moderate rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions on Tuesday.
The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country. Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Khulna divisions, the districts within Faridpur, Madaripur, Tangail, Chandpur, Feni, and Patuakhali. It is predicted to continue.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
The highest temperature was recorded in Sayedpur, Rangpur division, at 37.5 degree Celsius.
Despite the heatwave, the temperature is expected to remain nearly unchanged over the country during the day and through the night.
Even though most educational institutions and offices are set to resume work from the 12th to 15th of June, the empty streets of Dhaka are granted no respite from air pollution.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) score over Dhaka is 134 as of Tuesday morning which signals “unhealthy” air quality and is the fourth worst in the world. A AQI index above 101 is harmful for population sensitive to air pollution.
With the Eid-ul-Adha holidays ending soon, the weather oscillating between heatwaves and heavy rainfall may prove to be difficult for travellers outside of Dhaka who plan on returning to the capital.
