Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) matches are set to resume from Friday, with three fixtures scheduled on Sunday to make up for the games abandoned during the ongoing boycott. A member of the BPL governing committee told Times of Bangladesh that the rescheduling plan has been finalised, with flexibility to ensure all postponed matches are completed without further disruption.
According to the committee member, the players have decided to return to the field from 16 January 2026. “The two matches originally scheduled for today will go ahead according to the existing schedule, while the following day’s games will proceed as planned,” the official said. “For the matches that were abandoned, we are exploring options to fit them in, possibly on a rest day on 18 January. Another alternative is to play three matches in one day — starting at 9:00 am, finishing the first by noon, followed by the scheduled 2:30 pm and 7:00 pm matches. The pitch will be changed as necessary to ensure fair conditions.”
The governing committee member emphasised that while the players are ready to play, the ongoing disciplinary process concerning BCB director M Nazmul Islam will continue. The players and the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) released a press statement earlier, welcoming the board’s decision to remove Nazmul from key responsibilities but insisting that he issue a public apology for his controversial comments. The BCB has not agreed to this condition.
The ongoing standoff over Nazmul’s remarks had led to two BPL matches being abandoned on Thursday. The CWAB had set clear conditions for the players’ return, highlighting the importance of respect for cricketers alongside the disciplinary actions against board officials.
