New Zealand moved further ahead in the match on the second day at Mount Maunganui. They built a massive lead with the bat. Devon Conway once again stood at the center of the effort.
The hosts had ended the first day in a strong position. Tom Latham and Conway both scored centuries. On Friday, Conway carried on with ease. He reached his second double hundred and his first on home soil. He was out for 227 after lunch. He faced 367 balls and hit 31 fours.
Rachin Ravindra added valuable runs later on. He remained unbeaten on 72. Ajaz Patel also played a brisk innings. He scored 30 from 30 balls and stayed not out. New Zealand declared at 575 for 8.
West Indies bowlers kept trying on a flat surface. Jayden Seales took two wickets. Anderson Phillip claimed two as well. Justin Greaves also picked up two.
West Indies started their reply with intent. The openers looked settled at the crease. They crossed 100 without losing a wicket. John Campbell was not out on 45 from 60 balls. Brandon King remained unbeaten on 55 from 78 balls.
At the close of play, West Indies were still far behind. They trailed by 465 runs with all ten wickets in hand.
