Bangladesh Under 17 finished their series against Sri Lanka Under 17 on a winning note. The two teams had shared the three day matches 1 1. Bangladesh then won the ODI series after a tight contest.
The three match ODI series took place at the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram. The first two matches ended with one win each. The third and final ODI decided the series.
In the decider, Bangladesh Under 17 beat Sri Lanka Under 17 by five wickets. Md Rakibul Hossain led the side. Bangladesh reached the target with 67 balls left. The win gave them the series by 2 1.
Bangladesh chased 180 runs. They lost their first wicket at one run. Md Naiem was out lbw to Gimhan Mendis without scoring. Sk Jarif Siyam and Kawsar Ahmed then steadied the innings. They added 68 runs for the second wicket. Kawsar scored 30 before Manitha Rajapaksa bowled him out.
Adrito came in at number four. He shared a 45 run stand with Siyam. Both batters reached fifty. Soon after, Siyam was out for 51. Md Rakibul Hossain followed for a duck. Bangladesh were 115 for four in 24.5 overs.
Akash Roi and Adrito then took control. They added 52 runs for the fifth wicket. Adrito was out when only 13 runs were needed. He scored 54 from 77 balls with four fours. Gimhan Mendis dismissed him.
Akash Roi finished the match in style. He hit a four off Puljith Wathsuka in the 39th over to seal the win. Bangladesh won by five wickets.
Akash was named player of the match. He took four wickets for 21 runs in 10 overs and bowled three maidens. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 179 in 45.1 overs after choosing to bat first. Sanul Weeraratne top scored with 66. Sk Jarif Siyam, Md Nubaayet Alam, Akash Roi and Md Rakibul Hossain took one wicket each. Rehan Peiris and Sanul Weeraratne were run out.
