BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s physical condition remains stable. She is able to continue receiving the treatment that her doctors are providing, just as before.
On Sunday morning, two BNP leaders confirmed the information to TIMES of Bangladesh.
Since a special medical team is overseeing her care, they did not wish to be named. They added that doctors will provide a detailed update on her condition later in the day.
Khaleda, also former prime minister, is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka, where she was admitted on the night of November 23.
After medical tests, doctors reported that she has a lung infection. Initially, she was treated in a cabin with ICU facilities, but she is now in the CCU.
Her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Dr AZM Zahid Hossain briefed the media on Saturday night about her condition.
He said that if her body continues to respond to treatment in this way, Khaleda Zia is expected to recover soon.
Dr Zahid added that BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman is closely monitoring her treatment and giving instructions. Alongside the local medical board, her care involves coordination with doctors from several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and China, as well as Tarique’s wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman.
In response to a question about taking her abroad, Dr Zahid said, “The matter of going abroad depends entirely on her overall health, and on the medical board’s decision and recommendations. Any further steps will be taken based on that.”
