Bangladesh will make changes to their T20 squad for the upcoming three match series against Ireland, which begins on 27 November in Chattogram, as fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out due to franchise commitments and scheduled rest from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The two match Test series concludes on Sunday, but players involved in both formats will receive little respite if they are selected for the shortest format. Taskin, currently playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 and set to join the IL T20 from 2 December, will not be available for national duty. BCB had already been considering a break for him, making his absence certain for the Ireland series.
His replacement is expected to be pace bowling all rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, who has recovered from a recent injury spell and was last left out of the squad during the series against West Indies. A senior BCB source confirmed that Saifuddin is in line for a return, giving Bangladesh an experienced option in the middle overs.
There are also discussions around resting Mustafizur Rahman, who has had a heavy workload across formats and franchise tournaments. Should Mustafizur be left out, Hasan Mahmud is likely to be drafted into the squad.
Shariful Islam and Nurul Hasan Sohan, both of whom picked up injuries in the final T20 against West Indies, have regained fitness and are expected to be available for selection.
Bangladesh and Ireland will play their T20 matches on 27 and 29 November and 2 December, with all fixtures scheduled for 6 pm at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.
