A nine‑year‑old child was allegedly raped in Bairati union of Purbadhala upazila in Netrokona on Sunday afternoon.
Police said the suspect, aged 13, is a resident of Mauja Bairati village in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh.
According to police and the victim’s family, the incident occurred around 4:15pm while the child was playing with a friend at her home.
The victim’s mother later informed the matter to a local Union Parishad member. A police team from the Shyamganj investigation centre, led by Inspector Sentu Mia, arrived at the scene and took the child into custody.
Purbadhala Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter.
He said the child was sent to the One‑Stop Crisis Centre at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
Further legal action is underway.
