The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 483 people during regular drives across the capital in 24 hours leading up to Wednesday. A total of 59 cases were filed at various police stations during this period.
According to DMP, the division-wise breakdown of the arrests includes 132 in Mirpur Division, 80 in Wari Division, 55 in Uttara Division, 53 in Motijheel Division, 45 in Tejgaon Division, 40 in Gulshan Division, 34 in Ramna Division, 33 in Lalbagh Division, and 11 by the Detective Branch.
During the operations, police recovered 120 kg of cannabis, 12,375 pieces of yaba, two packets of heroin, and five litres of local liquor.
Additionally, law enforcement officers seized 11,480 counterfeit creams, 11 mobile phones, 526 sacks of rice, two knives, one motorcycle, one private car, and one private car remote key, whilst two victims were also rescued during the same period.
The DMP stated that these materials and narcotics were seized, and the suspects arrested, during operations conducted in different police station areas of the capital.
The process of taking legal action against the arrestees is currently underway.
