A portion of the prisoners in jails have voted ahead of the upcoming national election.

In the first five days of the voting process that started on 3 February, a total of 4,538 prisoners cast their votes, according to a press release issued by the prison authorities on Saturday.

Votes were collected via postal ballots, prison sources confirmed. On 3 February, 1,521 people voted; on February 4, 988 people voted; on February 5, 1,138; on February 6, 420; and on February 7, a total of 471 inmates voted.

Authorities have confirmed that the voting process will continue in the coming days.
