Following several candidate withdrawals, most of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) new directors were confirmed even before voting began, with all attention focused on the Category-3 election for former cricketers.
On Monday, voting was held at a five-star hotel in Dhaka, where Khaled Masud Pilot secured a decisive victory, bringing the total number of former cricketers on the board to four. Abdur Razzak was elected unopposed, while Aminul Islam Bulbul and Faruk Ahmed were also confirmed on election day.
The voting process, which started at 10:00 am, concluded with the election commission announcing preliminary results at 6:30 pm. Out of 156 total votes, 115 councillors participated. In Category-1 (district and divisional sports associations), 30 of 35 votes were cast. Category-2 (club organizers) saw 42 of 76 votes, and Category-3 (former cricketers) had 43 of 45 votes cast, with one invalid vote.
In Category-1, six directors were elected unopposed:
- Chittagong Division: Asif Akbar, Ahsan Iqbal Chowdhury
- Khulna Division: Abdur Razzak, Zulfikar Ali Khan
- Sylhet Division: Rahat Shams
- Barisal Division: Shakhawat Hossain
On election day, Aminul Islam and Nazmul Abedin Fahim were elected from Dhaka Division, each receiving 15 votes. Mukhlesur Rahman (Rajshahi) and Hasanuzzaman (Rangpur) each won 7 votes.
In Category-2, top vote-getters included Ishtiaq Sadeq, Shanian Tanin, and Faruk Ahmed (42 votes each), along with Amjad Hossain (41), Mokhshidul Kamal (41), Mehrab Alam Chowdhury (41), Adnan Rahman Dipon (40), Faijur Rahman (40), Abul Bashar (40), Monjur Alam (39), M Nazmul Islam (34), and Iftikhar Rahman Mithu (34).
In the Category-3 election, Khaled Masud Pilot won convincingly over former first-class cricketer and match referee Devbrat Paul with a margin of 35–7 votes.
Under the National Sports Council quota, M Ishfaq Ahsan and Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashik were nominated.
The 25-member board will elect one president and two vice-presidents at 7:30 pm, with formal results announced at 9:00 pm. Aminul Islam Bulbul is currently leading the race for president, with Faruk Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim in contention for vice-president.
