Nurul Alam Asheq, in-charge of the CMCH police outpost, said that several of the injured officers sustained moderate injuries but all were under medical care.

Mohammad Faisal Ahmed, deputy commissioner (DC-headquarters) of CMP, said the bus was heading toward the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Sagorika, where police officers were scheduled to be on duty during the Bangladesh–West Indies cricket match.

“The accident took place shortly after the bus left the headquarters compound, reportedly due to a brake system failure,” he added.

Following the incident, members of the Fire Service and police quickly arrived at the scene, rescuing the injured and transporting them to the hospital. The damaged bus has been kept inside the police compound.

According to CMP officials, buses from the Dampara Police Lines are routinely used to transport officers to field duties. An internal inquiry has been launched to determine how the brake failure occurred.

Senior police officials have already visited the hospitalised officers to check on their condition.
