Fourteen senior police officers have been suspended for remaining absent from their workplaces for a prolonged period. The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs recently issued separate notifications in this regard.
According to the notifications, the officials have been temporarily suspended under Rule 12, sub-rule (1) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, on charges of “desertion” as per Rule 3(g) of the same Rules. During their suspension, they will be entitled to subsistence allowances. The notifications also mentioned that the orders were issued in the public interest.
Among the suspended officers are three police superintendents, eight additional police superintendents, and two assistant police superintendents.
The 14 suspended officials are: Masudur Rahman Monir, Additional Police Superintendent and acting company commander of CPSCR of RAB-8 in Barishal; SM Shamim, former Additional Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP; Rubaiyat Zaman, Additional Police Superintendent of the In-Service Training Centre in Sunamganj; Mohammad Imrul, Assistant Police Superintendent of 8 APBn in Ukhiya; Hasanuzzaman Mollay, Additional Police Superintendent of the DIG APBn (Hill Districts) Office in Rangamati; Golam Mostafa Russell, former Police Superintendent of Narayanganj; Md Shahjahan, former Police Superintendent of Rangpur district; Mahmudul Hasan, Telecom Officer (ASP) of the Police Telecom Organisation in Rajarbagh; Iftikharul Islam, Additional Police Superintendent of 16 APBn in Cox’s Bazar; Mohammad Sanoar Hossain, former Police Superintendent of ATU in Dhaka; Akhtarul Islam, Additional Police Superintendent of the In-Service Training Centre in Sylhet; SM Jahangir Hasan, Additional Police Superintendent of the River Police in Tangail; Mishu Biswas, Additional Police Superintendent of the In-Service Training Centre in Jamalpur; and Al Imran Hossain, Assistant Police Commissioner of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
