Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 10 people, including women and children, for illegally entering Bangladesh from India through Chuadanga border early Sunday.
Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of Chuadanga-6 BGB, confirmed the detentions on Sunday morning.
According to BGB sources, members of the Baradi BGB camp were on duty at the border when they intercepted the group around 5am as they crossed into Bangladeshi territory from India. The detainees consist of two men, three women, and five children.
Nazmul stated that the identities of the individuals are currently being verified, and they are undergoing interrogation.
“Following preliminary legal procedures, the process of handing them over to Darshana Police Station is underway,” he said.
He added that a case would be filed against the detainees under existing laws for illegal border crossing.
The CO further emphasised that BGB operations remain ongoing to prevent illegal infiltration and unauthorised movement across the border.
