Universal Medical College Hospital and the Actors’ Guild signed a bilateral corporate health agreement on 14 July at a ceremony held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, said in a press release. The agreement gives all guild members and their families preferential access to medical services, including special discounts, executive health check-ups, cardiac assessments, and priority emergency care.
The agreement was jointly signed by Dr Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, Managing Director of Universal Medical College Hospital, and Azad Abul Kalam, President of the Actors’ Guild. Also signing were Rashed Mamun Apu, General Secretary, and Suchana Sikdar, Secretary for Legal Affairs.
The partnership formalises a framework for enhanced healthcare access for performing artists and their families, reflecting growing collaboration between private healthcare providers and cultural organisations. The initiative is expected to streamline routine health monitoring and ensure timely medical intervention for guild members.
Universal Medical College Hospital said the agreement demonstrates its commitment to community-oriented healthcare solutions while offering targeted services to a professional cohort with specific occupational health needs.
The actors’ guild highlighted the benefits of the programme, including priority services and comprehensive health assessments that will improve overall wellbeing and support the professional demands of its members.
The ceremony marked a step forward in corporate health partnerships, creating a model for other cultural institutions and private healthcare providers to emulate.
