The New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chittagong Port achieved two historic milestones in August under the management of Chittagong Dry Dock Ltd (CDDL). The achievements were announced in a press release issued by Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Secretary Omar Faruk on Tuesday.

According to a press release, NCT set a record on August 28 by handling 5,019 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in a single day. Just three days later, on August 31, the terminal surpassed that figure, reaching a new high of 5,061 TEUs, the highest single-day handling in the port’s history.

The port authority highlighted that since CDDL assumed management of NCT’s berths 2, 3, 4 and 5 on July 7, the terminal has witnessed marked improvements in efficiency. Enhanced operational management and skilled manpower have streamlined ship arrivals, container delivery, outbound movement, and gate operations, ensuring uninterrupted workflow across the terminal.

“Chittagong Dry Dock Limited has set a remarkable example by making the country’s principal commercial gateway more efficient and dynamic,” CPA Secretary Omar Faruk stated.

Chittagong Port Authority currently operates through three container terminals under separate management.

New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT), operated by Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL); Chittagong Container Terminal (CCT), operated by Saif Powertech Ltd and Patenga Container Terminal (PCT), operated by Saudi Arabia-based Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT).

In addition, the port’s General Cargo Berth (GCB) has 12 jetties run by 12 berth operator companies, with container ships using six of them.
