Two motorcycle riders were killed after being hit and dragged by a bus in Saidpur upazila of Nilphamari on Wednesday morning. The tragic accident took place on the Saidpur-Rangpur highway in the Kalabagan area.
The deceased have been identified as Nur Islam, 48, and Masud Hossain, 25. Both were returning home on a motorcycle after finishing their shift at a local brick kiln. Nur Islam worked as a night guard, while Masud Hossain served as a fireman at the same kiln. According to local witnesses, a coach belonging to Shyamoli Paribahan rammed into the motorcycle from behind and dragged it for nearly half a kilometer before coming to a stop. Both riders died on the spot due to the impact.
Officer-in-Charge of the Taraganj Highway Police Station, Mostafizur Rahman, confirmed the incident, stating that a police team was dispatched to the scene immediately. The bus involved in the accident has been seized, and legal action is underway.
