At least two people were killed and 10 others injured in a stampede during the Jashn-e-Julus procession marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi in Chattogram on Saturday afternoon. The incident, which took place around 12:30 pm, occurred amid the annual religious rally celebrating the birth and life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The victims were identified as Saiful Islam, 13, and Ayub Ali, 60. According to eyewitnesses, both individuals reportedly fainted due to the scorching heat and dizziness while participating in the procession. In the chaos that followed, they were trampled by the crowd, leading to their tragic deaths.

The procession, which was attended by thousands of devout Muslims, paraded through the streets of Chattogram, accompanied by religious fervor and chants. The event marks the 12th day of Rabiul Awwal in the Islamic calendar, which commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth. In previous years, the procession has been a peaceful and spiritually uplifting event, but this year, the extreme weather conditions and dense crowd caused unforeseen challenges.

Authorities have assured that they are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of attendees during future religious processions and events.
