Met office has warned that thunderstorms with gusty winds of up to 60 kilometres per hour may sweep over seven regions of the country by midday Wednesday.
According to the latest weather bulletin issued for inland river ports, the warning is valid until 1:00pm on July 2 (Wednesday). The regions under threat include Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Sylhet.
The forecast says that temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45–60 kmph, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may occur over these areas. The river ports in these regions have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
In a separate weather bulletin covering the entire country, the Met Office said that by 6:00pm Wednesday, most parts of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds.
Many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh divisions are also likely to receive similar weather. Some areas across the country could witness moderate to heavy rainfall.
