BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman will be returning Bangladesh by December of this year.
BNP Foreign Affairs Secretary and Tarique Rahman’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir made this announcement to journalists on Thursday after a discussion meeting in Goala Bazar, Balaganj, Sylhet.
Responding to questions, Humayun Kabir stated: “The national election schedule will be announced towards year-end. Accordingly, Tarique Rahman will return between November and December. His security arrangements are being handled with utmost importance.”
Highlighting growing international interest in BNP, he affirmed: “Under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, BNP will contest the elections. If elected to form the government, Tarique Rahman will become the prime minister.”
Regarding Tarique Rahman’s recent meeting with the US ambassador that has drawn public attention, Kabir clarified: “It was a courtesy meeting. Discussions covered Bangladesh’s political situation, Tarique Rahman’s vision, and governance plans if elected.”
The gathering was also addressed by BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Dr Enamul Haque Chowdhury, Central Co-Organising Secretary Miftah Siddiqui, and District BNP General Secretary Emran Ahmed Chowdhury among others.
The event concluded with crests being awarded to SSC and Dakhil examination achievers.
