Tarique expresses sorrow over Uttara aircraft tragedy

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman expressed profound shock and sorrow over the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force aircraft which crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara that claimed the lives of 20 people on Monday.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic aircraft crash at Milestone College. No student should face such horror in institutions meant to facilitate their learning, growth and well-being. My earnest prayers are with the shaken young souls, and I call upon leaders, activists and professionals of the BNP to stand by the affected. Together, as a united nation, we must tackle this situation,” said Tarique in a Facebook post.

In a condolence message, he said “I am deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft in Uttara, Dhaka, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of students from Milestone School. The entire nation is grieving this heartbreaking tragedy. I am at a loss for words to express my sorrow over this harrowing and heartrending incident.”

He also prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.

“May Allah, grant those grieving families the strength to endure the pain of losing their children or seeing them severely injured,” he said in a message.

Tarique Rahman also demanded a proper and thorough investigation into the aircraft crash.

At least 20 people have died, and 171 others injured after a Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crashed into a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara.
