The authorities of SUST have renamed three existing residential halls, including the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall, and assigned names to three halls currently under construction.
The decisions were made at the university’s 237th syndicate meeting on Thursday, which concluded at 10 pm after a day-long session. Alongside the hall renaming, a research centre was also renamed, reports UNB.
SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury said that several important decisions regarding residential facilities were taken at the meeting. He said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall has been renamed Bijoy 24 Hall, the First Female Hall as Ayesha Siddika Hall, and Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall as Fatimatuz Zohra Hall.
For the under-construction halls, the ten-story boys’ hall will be called Gazi Burhan Uddin Hall, the new female hall Sumaiya Binte Khubbat Hall, and the international hall M Saifur Rahman Hall.
Additionally, the Bangabandhu Research Centre has been renamed Jalalabad Research Centre, the VC added.
