Subrata Roy Titu is best known as a tabla player. Although he does not live in Dhaka and is based in Netrokona, he has earned a strong reputation as a tabla artiste in Netrokona and the surrounding areas.
Titu developed a deep interest in the tabla from an early age.
His guru, Manas Dutta, trained him in the instrument and played a key role in developing his skills.
Titu receives invitations to perform at almost every type of cultural programme held in Netrokona.
He also takes part in such events with great enthusiasm.
Professionally, Titu works at the Netrokona Municipality Office in its licence section.
His job keeps him busy every day. However, his passion remains centred on the tabla.
Titu performs most frequently with Netrokona-based ustad Ratan Sarkar.
Speaking about Titu, Ratan Sarkar said, “Titu is a very kind-hearted person and extremely helpful. He is also a highly skilled tabla player. I always try to have him with me at every programme I perform.”
“I would say that Titu is the pride of our area. I wish him success and well-being. My very best wishes are with him,” he added.
Titu said playing the tabla gives him immense pleasure.
“Although I work in a different profession, my thoughts and passion revolve around the art of playing the tabla,” he said.
“The love I receive from everyone as a tabla player is truly indescribable.”
“I am especially grateful to my tabla guru and to Ratan Dada,” he added.
1st September is Titu’s birthday. He will spend the day in a special way with his family.
