Startup Association of Bangladesh introduced its ad-hoc committee at a gathering of entrepreneurs in Chattogram, bringing together more than 160 founders representing nearly 100 startups as the organisation moves to formalise a national platform for the country’s startup ecosystem.
The event was held at Chattogram Software Technology Park, where entrepreneurs from across Bangladesh joined networking sessions, discussions and a startup expo showcasing emerging ventures, organisers said.
Startup Association of Bangladesh, widely known as SAB, formed the ad-hoc committee on 1 September 2025 in Mirpur, Dhaka to build a unified platform for startup founders nationwide.
The organisation aims to complete registration as a trade organisation before holding elections to establish a full executive committee representing the country’s startup community.
The event was organised with support from the government’s Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development project and bdapps, a local application platform.
SAB President Md Abdur Rashid Sohag said the association aims to strengthen collaboration among entrepreneurs and support policies that help startups grow.
“Bangladesh needs a unified platform for startup founders and innovators,” he said.
“Our goal is to bring entrepreneurs together, strengthen collaboration and support policies that enable startups to grow and contribute to the country’s digital economy,” he added.
The ad-hoc committee includes Vice Presidents Apon Sazzid, Fazlur Rahman Robi and Imran Sayeed Robin, General Secretary Aminul Islam and Treasurer Saad Mustafiz Anindo.
Other members include Director Research and Innovation Saiful Huda Tanvir, Directors IT Udayan Basak, Mahmud Abu Saleh Musa and Zia Uddin Ahmed, Director Legal and Compliance Saiduzzaman Raju and Directors PR and Communications Mohammad Sakib Ridwan Al-Qadri and Md Ibrahim.
Executive members include Riaz Ahmed Mishu, Sajib Ashraful Islam and Ahsan Khan Sakib.
A startup expo and pitching session formed a key part of the programme, where nearly 100 startups displayed products and services while discussing funding, scaling strategies and collaboration opportunities.
Participants were also introduced to opportunities available under the Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development project, along with monetisation prospects through the bdapps platform.
Organisers said the initiative aims to strengthen the national startup network and support the expansion of Bangladesh’s digital startup ecosystem.
Daily TIMES of Bangladesh served as the media partner for the event.
