Standard Chartered Bangladesh has appointed Enamul Huque as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2026. Huque, who has spent 25 years with the bank across Bangladesh and other markets, will lead the Bangladesh franchise, according to a press release.
Huque brings extensive experience in Corporate and Institutional Banking and Risk Management, with expertise spanning local corporates, commodity trading and agribusiness, global subsidiaries and financial institutions. During his career at Standard Chartered, he has led strategic client relationships and landmark transactions across multiple sectors.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, Huque served as Country Chief Risk Officer and Senior Credit Officer from April 2025, overseeing risk management across the Bangladesh franchise while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and the bank’s growth objectives. He also chaired the bank’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.

This bank has been my professional identity for over 25 years. Taking up the role of Chief Executive Officer of our Bangladesh franchise is both a recognition and a big responsibility.”
Huque said his priority would be to continue strengthening Standard Chartered’s role as an international connector, remain invested in the success of clients and regulators, and serve as a trusted partner to clients, communities and other stakeholders.
Beyond his role at Standard Chartered, Huque has contributed to Bangladesh’s financial sector development. He served as Co-Chair of the Standing Committee on Capital Markets and Bond at the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the 2023-2025 term.
Huque holds an MBA from Mount Eliza Business School, Monash University, Australia, as well as graduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Dhaka. Outside work, he enjoys travelling and has an interest in the arts.
