Southeast University (SEU) hosted two high-level diplomatic visits in August, aiming to enhance academic and research collaborations with Denmark and Switzerland.
On August 21, a delegation from the Embassy of Denmark, led by Ole Rosenborg Justesen, sector counsellor, and Fahim Abrar, associate advisor for sustainable production, met with SEU officials.
Justesen emphasised Denmark’s recognition of Bangladesh’s valuable data resources in agriculture, climate, environment, and labour, offering opportunities for scholarships and research funding in these fields.
Five days later, the Embassy of Switzerland, led by Alberto Giovanetti, counsellor and head of political, economic and communication affairs, visited SEU on August 26.
Giovanetti and Khaled Chowdhury, senior political, economic and press officer, highlighted the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships and stressed the importance of cross-institutional research collaboration. They also discussed facilitating partnerships between SEU and Swiss universities.
SEU Vice Chancellor Prof Yusuf Mahbubul Islam and other senior officials warmly received the delegations.
The visits aimed to foster youth leadership, research, and community development through joint projects, internships, and capacity-building programs, benefiting both SEU students and faculty.
