Six people died of dengue and 983 new cases reported in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday across the country. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the information in its regular dengue update.
The deaths occurred in a period between 8am on Sunday and 8am on Monday, raising the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 269.
Since January, a total of 66,423 people have been admitted to hospitals with dengue fever. Of them, 63,414 have already been discharged after their recovery.
According to the DGHS report, among the newly hospitalised patients, 141 were from areas outside Barishal city, 111 from Chattogram division, 171 from areas outside Dhaka city, 227 from Dhaka North City Corporation area, 133 from Dhaka South City Corporation area, 62 from areas outside Khulna city, and 41 from Mymensingh division.
During the same period, 970 dengue patients recovered and were released from hospitals, the DGHS added.
