Megastar Shakib Khan’s hit film Rockstar is set to make its streaming debut on Chorki from 23 July, allowing audiences in Bangladesh and abroad to watch the film from home.
The film will begin streaming from midnight on 22 July (23 July) through the Chorki app and Chorki.net. Rockstar will be released as a Chorki Exclusive. The film is directed by Azman Rusho and presented by Anjan Chowdhury Pintu. Sun Motion Pictures Limited produced the project.
Speaking about the OTT release, director Azman Rusho said many viewers had already watched the film in cinemas, while its release on Chorki would make it accessible to audiences at home and overseas. He added that reaching a wider audience through the streaming platform was something every filmmaker hopes for.
Executive producer Ajoy Kumar Kundu said many people had been unable to watch Rockstar in cinemas for various reasons. The Chorki release would now allow them to watch the film at their convenience and revisit their favourite moments whenever they wished.
One of the most talked-about films released during Eid-ul-Azha, Rockstar generated significant buzz after its teaser introduced Shakib Khan in a striking new look. His portrayal of a musician attracted considerable interest among fans, while cinema audiences praised the film’s performances, memorable scenes and the friendship between Agun and Aslam.
Chorki Chief Executive Officer Redwan Rony said the combined efforts of cinemas and OTT platforms are helping strengthen the film industry by bringing content to a wider audience. He said Chorki remains committed to quality productions and expressed hope that viewers at home and abroad would enjoy Rockstar when it arrives on the platform.
The film stars Sabila Nur as Meera, Tangia Zaman Methila as a supermodel, Sunidhi Nayak as Sunidhi, Pantha Kanai as an imprisoned musician, Tariq Anam Khan as Ustad Junayed, Rosey Siddique as Agun’s mother Shabnam, Dilara Zaman as Agun’s grandmother and Quazi Sabir as Agun’s assistant and friend, Aslam.
Director Azman Rusho said he developed the story by blending the real-life experiences of rock stars with memories from his own journey as a musician. Rather than portraying Shakib Khan as a conventional action hero or gangster, the film presents him as a musician navigating the struggles and highs and lows of life. Rusho added that Shakib Khan lost weight to prepare for the role.
The screenplay was written by Nusrat Maati, with dialogues by Ayman Asib Shadhin and Samiul Bhuiyan. The film features several songs, all written, composed and performed by Ahmed Hasan Sunny. Jahid Nirob served as the music director.
