The team behind the blockbuster movie ‘Borbaad’ is reuniting for a new film, although it will not be Borbaad 2.
The announcement came after a post on Shakib Khan’s official Facebook page on Thursday teased the return of the Borbaad team.
Released during Eid-ul-Fitr last year, Borbaad, directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy and starring Shakib Khan, emerged as a blockbuster. According to the producers, the film earned Tk75 crore at the box office. Although a sequel was announced at the time, the project did not move forward.
Speaking to Times of Bangladesh, director Mehedi Hasan Hridoy confirmed that the team is returning with a different project. “No, we are not making Borbaad 2. However, the new film will be another action thriller,” he said.
Asked whether Kolkata actress Idhika Paul, who starred opposite Shakib Khan in Borbaad, would return for the new film, Hridoy said neither the title nor the cast has been finalised. He confirmed only that Shakib Khan has officially joined the project following discussions held on Thursday.
The director said more details, including the film’s title and cast, are expected to be announced within the next four to five days.
Like Borbaad, the new film will be produced under the banner of Real Energy Production by Shahreen Akter Sumi and Azeem Haroon. The production house has also released Rakshas and is preparing to release Biday during the upcoming Durga Puja festival.
