The Bangladesh Premier League 2026 Final has arrived with no surprises on the way the two best teams of the season have made it through. Rajshahi Warriors and Chattogram Royals have played the most consistent cricket. Now they are one match away from lifting the trophy.
But the build-up has not been calm in terms of off-field issues. Bangladesh cricket is going through another tense period. The uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2026 in India has created noise outside the field. In the past, such off-field issues have often spilled into the dressing room. They have affected focus, preparation, and performances.
Chattogram Royals captain Mahedi Hasan believes this time will be different. He says the players have locked in on the biggest night of the season. “Look, all the players are focused on the BPL final tomorrow; everyone is preparing and thinking only about that,” he said. “The World Cup isn’t in our hands; it’s up to the management. Those of us in the World Cup team will go as per their instructions. It depends on the BCB.”
Mahedi also knows what it will take to finish the job. “If we can play the kind of cricket we’ve been playing overall in the final, hopefully, something very good will happen.”
Rajshahi Warriors captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has taken a similar approach. After guiding his side into the final with a win over Sylhet Titans in Qualifier 2, he did not want to get carried away. He wants his team to stay disciplined and stick to their plan.
“We’re very happy, but we still have to play good cricket. We won’t think about the result, we’ll stick to our process and try to execute our plans. A final is a big occasion, of course, but we need to stay calm and clear-headed.”
It is a simple message. Enjoy the moment, but do not lose control of it.
Shoriful leads Chattogram’s title push
For Chattogram Royals, the biggest threat has been their bowling. And the leader of that attack is Shoriful Islam. The left-arm pacer has been the best bowler of the season so far. He has taken 24 wickets with a stunning average of 9.54 and an economy rate of 5.60.
Shoriful’s impact is not limited to the powerplay. His variations at the death, especially his cutters, have made scoring difficult even on good batting surfaces. If Chattogram are to defend a total or control a chase, Shoriful will likely be at the heart of it.
Mahedi Hasan’s all-round form has also been a major reason behind Chattogram’s run to the final. He made a difference against Rajshahi Warriors in Qualifier 1 with both bat and ball. He scored a match-winning 19*(9). He also returned figures of 4-0-20-2 earlier in the game. He has led from the front, and Chattogram will again look towards him if the pressure rises.
The top order, though, will still be under the spotlight. If Naim Sheikh and Mirza Baig fail to build a strong opening stand, Chattogram may need Mahedi to steady the innings again.
Tanvir Islam has been another key performer for the Royals. He has taken 14 wickets while keeping things tight with an economy rate of just 6.80. Alongside him, Pakistani all-rounder Aamer Jamal adds extra bite. He has 15 wickets this season and can influence the game in both departments.
Balance and big-match players fueling Rajshahi
Rajshahi Warriors have not relied on one or two stars. Their biggest strength has been balance. They have looked like a complete team since the start of the season, and they have backed it up in big matches.
The squad became even stronger with the arrival of Jimmy Neesham, and later, Kane Williamson. Both New Zealanders have a reputation for stepping up when it matters most. They showed their value in Qualifier 1, and Rajshahi will hope they can deliver again in the final.
Shanto has been the batting pillar of the Warriors. He has been in superb form and will want to lead from the front one last time. If he gets going, Rajshahi’s innings becomes much harder to stop.
The Warriors also have quality support around him. Sahibzada Farhan and Tanzid Hasan Tamim can set the tone at the top. If they manage a strong opening partnership, Rajshahi could take early control of the game.
In the bowling department, Binura Fernando enters the final full of confidence after his four-wicket haul in Qualifier 2. He has been a quiet performer through the season, but his impact has been consistent. In a final, those silent match-winners often decide the biggest moments. Ripon Mondol has been the third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far (17), and his death over brilliance can make the difference.
What could decide the final
This final has two clear storylines. Chattogram Royals bring a sharper bowling attack led by Shoriful Islam, backed by Mahedi Hasan’s all-round leadership. Rajshahi Warriors bring depth, balance, and overseas experience that can swing pressure moments.
The bigger question is which team handles the occasion better. Finals are sometimes not about perfect cricket. Sometimes, they are about absorbing pressure and taking key chances. One good powerplay, one middle-over collapse, or one spell at the death can change everything.
Bangladesh cricket may be dealing with noise outside the boundary. But for one night, the BPL final offers a different stage. Rajshahi Warriors and Chattogram Royals have earned their place here. Now, they will fight to finish the season the way champions do.
