Ronaldinho has backed Lionel Messi as the best player in the world, even at the age of 38.
He praised Messi while speaking to Olé.
“He (Messi) is still the best in the world. I hope he arrives in good form at the World Cup and does awesome things for us fans,” Ronaldinho said.
The Brazilian great picked Messi over top stars like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Lamine Yamal, who are among the biggest names in European football today.
Ronaldinho and Messi share a long history. Messi broke into the first team at FC Barcelona when Ronaldinho was the main star of the side.
Ronaldinho has now retired from football. Messi is still playing for Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer. He is preparing for what could be his final World Cup.
The Brazilian said their bond remains strong. “Whenever we have the chance to be together, it’s a great pleasure.”
He also spoke about the upcoming World Cup. “All the teams are very strong, it’s going to be even more exciting.”
