A special operation by the Bangladesh Army in Fatikchhari, Chattogram, led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, drugs, and other materials. The raid was conducted early on Wednesday in Ward 4 of Abdullahpur Union, led by members of the Khiram Army Camp.
Army sources reported that the operation, which took place between 2am and 6am, was led by Major Saifur Rahman Turjo, with Senior Warrant Officer Md Atikur Rahman overseeing the overall operation. A total of 23 army personnel participated in the raid.
Initially, a search was conducted at the home of Md Irfan, the nephew of incumbent chairman Ahidul Alam, but no items were found. The raid continued at the house of local resident Md Abdul Halim, also known as Imon, where a variety of arms and drugs were recovered.
Items seized included a rifle, 3 rounds of rifle ammunition, 6 rounds of pistol ammunition, 7 rounds of shotgun cartridges, 11 rounds of blank cartridges, 16 mobile phones, 1 Chinese axe, 2 machetes, 7 knives, 1 iron chain, and various drugs including yaba, alcohol, and marijuana.
Major Rahman confirmed that after the raid, the arrested Imon and the recovered materials would be handed over to the Fatikchhari police station. The accused is currently under army custody at Laxmichhari Zone. The process to file a case is underway.
