Rangpur Division has completed a remarkable domestic double this season, securing the National Cricket League (NCL) long-format title on Tuesday, 8 December 2025, following a drawn match involving Sylhet Division at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi. Earlier in the season, Rangpur had already claimed the NCL T20 title in October, and their triumph in the four-day format confirms their dominance in domestic cricket. The victory was largely aided by Sylhet’s inability to capitalise on their opportunities.
Rangpur had effectively done most of the work for the championship the previous day, defeating Khulna Division by seven wickets within three days. This result put them in a commanding position to claim the long-format crown for the first time since the 2022-23 season. Going into the final day, Sylhet knew that only a win could allow them to overtake Rangpur’s 31 points and stay in contention for the title. Chasing a daunting target of 320, Sylhet managed only 187 for 5, with Asadullah Al Galib remaining unbeaten on 61 and Mushfiqur Rahim contributing 53 runs. The draw meant Rangpur clinched the championship.
Earlier in the day, Barishal Division demonstrated their batting strength against Sylhet. Starting at 212 for 4, Barishal declared their second innings at 294 for 8, powered by opener Iftikhar Hossain Ifti’s unbeaten 128 off 197 balls, which included 11 fours and 4 sixes. His second first-class century set Sylhet a formidable target, but the defending champions could not withstand the pressure on the final day. Tanvir Islam and Moin Khan each claimed two wickets for Barishal.
At the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Mymensingh Division suffered a heavy 146-run defeat against Rajshahi. Abu Haider Roni provided resistance with a career-best 141 not out off 127 balls, hitting 10 fours and 13 sixes, his second first-class century. Rajshahi’s victory was secured by Sanjamul Islam, who took 5 for 88, including the final wicket of Asadullah Hil Galib, handing Mymensingh their only defeat in their debut season.
With Sylhet finishing on 28 points and Mymensingh failing to gain any points in their final match, Rangpur’s consistent performances ensured they emerged as the clear champions of the NCL long format, adding to their T20 success earlier this season.
