Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast gusty winds of up to 60 kmph and rain or thunderstorms in several parts of the country, including Dhaka.
The BMD has issued a No 1 cautionary signal for river ports in Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar as strong winds and thunderstorms are likely in the southern and southeastern regions.
According to the Storm Warning Centre, winds from the south or southeast may reach 45–60 kmph in the affected areas.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely in Chattogram, Barishal and Sylhet divisions, along with other parts of the country. Some areas may experience moderately heavy rainfall.
In Dhaka, the sky may remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast, with light to moderate rain possible. Daytime temperatures in the capital are likely to fall slightly.
Dhaka recorded 1mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 28.3°C on Wednesday morning.
The BMD forecast, valid until 6pm Wednesday (26 August), said rain or thunderstorms are likely in many areas of Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Some areas of Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions may also experience rain or thunderstorms during the period.
