Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the lone accused in a case over allegedly hacking his wife and five‑year‑old son to death at a Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.

The accused, Ehsanul Haque, 38, a resident of Kutupalong Camp‑6, was apprehended from Dhaka’s Tejgaon area Sunday night in a joint operation by RAB‑15 and RAB‑2, said AM Faruq, assistant director (Law and Media) of RAB‑15.

Faruq said the killings took place on 9 July following a family dispute.

According to the case, Ehsanul attacked his wife Shaheda Nur alias Sufia, 30, and their two sons with a sharp weapon, killing Shaheda and five‑year‑old Shamim on the spot. Their elder son, Mohammad Afsar Bappi, 14, was critically injured.

Ehsanul went into hiding soon after the killings.

RAB official Faruq added that operations to curb crimes will continue.
