Pubali Bank PLC delivered robust financial growth in 2025 despite a challenging global and domestic economic environment, driven by technology-led transformation, strong asset quality and expanding financial inclusion initiatives, Managing Director & CEO Mohammad Ali said at the bank’s 43rd Annual General Meeting.
The lender reported growth across key financial indicators, while accelerating its digital banking strategy and broadening access to financial services through what it describes as a “Phygital Banking Ecosystem”, combining its nationwide branch network with digital platforms. The bank’s performance and future strategy were outlined by Mohammad Ali during the AGM, said in a press release.
“Over the past three years, Pubali Bank has not only achieved significant business growth but has also created substantial value for its shareholders,” Mohammad Ali said.
According to the bank, its share price has risen from between Tk16 and Tk20 in 2022 to more than Tk37, while paid-up capital increased by around 56 per cent from approximately Tk1,000 crore to Tk1,560 crore through successive stock dividends. The bank said the market value of a long-term shareholder’s investment has increased more than threefold compared with 2022.
Pubali Bank’s technology-driven transformation remained a key focus during the year. Its PI Digital Platform reached 528,276 active users by the end of 2025, with 18.6 million transactions completed through the platform. Active users increased by 78 per cent year-on-year, while transaction volume rose 115 per cent.
The bank also expanded its digital payments infrastructure, raising the number of merchant POS terminals to 25,525 and deploying more than 145,000 Bangla QR codes nationwide to facilitate cashless transactions.
Pubali Bank continued to rely on its extensive physical network to support growth and financial inclusion. By the end of 2025, the bank operated 517 branches, 274 sub-branches, 22 Islamic Banking Windows and 901 ATM and CRM booths across the country. It also introduced self-service banking and digital onboarding facilities aimed at improving customer access to services.
Financially, total assets rose 20.25 per cent to Tk118,013.66 crore. Deposits reached Tk89,519.49 crore, while loans and advances stood at Tk71,140.63 crore. Consolidated operating profit increased to Tk 2,907.57 crore and profit after tax reached Tk1,079.56 crore.
Earnings per share stood at Tk8.30, while return on equity was 15.51 per cent and return on assets reached 1 per cent. The Capital to Risk-Weighted Assets Ratio remained at 15.34 per cent, above the regulatory minimum requirement.
Asset quality also remained strong. Pubali Bank reported a non-performing loan ratio of 2.20 per cent at the end of 2025, compared with an industry average of about 30.60 per cent, reflecting what the bank described as prudent lending practices, data-driven monitoring and effective recovery mechanisms.
The bank maintained a significant presence in foreign trade and remittance services. Export business handled during the year totalled Tk 38,664.26 crore, while import business reached Tk47,313.74 crore. Inward foreign remittances rose to Tk11,362.13 crore.
Pubali Bank also expanded its sustainable finance activities. Nearly 30 per cent of its total loans and advances portfolio was classified as sustainable finance by the end of 2025. The bank said it had installed solar power systems at 411 branches and 453 ATM and CRM booths, financed 37 LEED-certified factories, adopted IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 standards and implemented a decarbonisation policy aligned with its Net-Zero 2050 vision.
Looking ahead, Mohammad Ali said the bank’s Strategic Plan 2026–2028 focuses on technology-driven, inclusive and sustainable banking. As part of that strategy, Pubali Bank plans to launch a year-long Cashless Banking Campaign in 2026 to promote digital transactions across the retail, healthcare, education, corporate and CMSME sectors.
He said the bank would continue pursuing its “Banking the Unbanked” vision by integrating its branch network, sub-branches, self-service points, PI App and Bangla QR infrastructure to bring more people into the formal financial system.
