Bangladesh Police have arrested a total of 32,908 individuals across the country during a special operation conducted between 1 May and 12 July 2026.
In addition to these figures, another 83,817 people were arrested in various other cases and regular police drives during the same period.
According to a police press release, law enforcement agencies recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during these operations. The recovered items include 243 firearms, 2,313 rounds of bullets and cartridges, 88 magazines, 43 cocktails (crude bombs), 2kg of gunpowder, and 503 local weapons.
Furthermore, police seized 18 firearm parts, 17 sets of tools used for manufacturing arms and bombs, and 10,300 “chocolate crackers” (chocolate baji).
A detailed breakdown of the seized firearms reveals 76 pistols, 30 shooter guns, 33 LGs, 50 guns, 18 revolvers, 15 pipe guns, 12 airguns, four shotguns, two rifles, two SMGs, and one pen gun.
The police also conducted extensive anti-narcotics drives during this timeframe. Total seizures included 7,640,276 pieces of Yaba, 8,284 packets (puria) of heroin, 3,186 bottles of Phensedyl, 6,835 bottles of foreign liquor, 354 bottles of local liquor, and 5,336 packets of cannabis (ganja), alongside other narcotics.
Authorities confirmed that 14,157 cases have been filed in connection with these drug seizures, leading to the arrest of 20,439 individuals.
