The Dhaka University administration has barred outsiders from residing in its dormitories ahead of the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections.

The directive issued on Tuesday morning by the Chief Returning Officer Prof Mohammad Zashim Uddin stipulates that, starting immediately, only current students will be permitted to stay in residential halls.

This order comes in preparation for the busy election period, slated for September 9, during which 471 candidates will vie for positions across 28 central DUCSU posts, while 1,035 aspirants will contest 13 hall-level posts.

The Election Commission has arranged a total of eight polling centers featuring 710 booths, and approximately 39,775 students are eligible to vote. Polling will take place from 8am to 4pm on election day.
