Bayern Munich came from two goals down to overwhelm Freiburg 6–2 in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with Michael Olise scoring twice and providing three assists in a dominant performance that kept the champions unbeaten and firmly on top of the table.
The win takes Bayern to 31 points, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen, who sit second with 23 after their 3–1 victory away to Wolfsburg.
Freiburg stunned the Allianz Arena in the early stages, taking advantage of Bayern’s defensive lapses from set pieces. Yuito Suzuki struck from close range in the 12th minute after a swift exchange from a corner, before Johan Manzambi was left unmarked to head in at the far post five minutes later.
Bayern, who face Arsenal away in the Champions League on Wednesday, responded quickly. Lennart Karl pulled one back in the 21st minute following precise build-up play from Olise, and the Frenchman levelled with a powerful strike in first-half stoppage time.
The turnaround was complete ten minutes after the restart. Olise delivered a pinpoint corner for Dayot Upamecano to volley home in the 55th minute, before Harry Kane scored his 14th league goal of the season five minutes later.
Olise continued his superb display, drifting past defenders on a solo run before setting up Nicolas Jackson for Bayern’s fifth goal in the 78th minute. He then capped the night with a curled finish into the top corner, sealing a remarkable performance and Bayern’s emphatic victory.
