Bangladesh’s T20 opening pair has been a revolving door this year. Tanzid Hasan Tamim has partnered Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Litton Das and even Mohammad Naim at various times, as the team experimented with seven different combinations across 30 matches in 2025. The Tanzid–Emon duo featured the most, opening in 19 innings.
Tanzid has taken this constant change positively. After his batting session at the Mirpur indoor facility on Monday, the left-handed opener said that no one is fully settled in the opening position. Emon and Saif have batted in various top-order roles depending on team requirements, which is why the last two series also featured different opening pairs.
Speaking to the media in front of the Mirpur Academy Ground on Monday, Tanzid said, “No one here is settled. Whoever the team needs in whichever position will play there. In the last series an opener was asked to bat at number three or four. I do not think there is anything called settled in this context. The team will do whatever it feels is best.”
After the second day of the ongoing special batting camp on Sunday, national batting coach Mohammad Ashraful said that Saif, Emon and others are being used in different positions because of their ability to hit sixes from a stable base. Tanzid is also included in that category.
Ashraful said, “If someone can be settled in one position that is great. But players like Saif, Parvez Emon or Tanzid have an advantage. They can stand still and hit sixes.”
On the idea of having floating batters in the top order, Ashraful added, “Look at Liton. He can open and he has batted at number three. Saif can open and he has been used at number four. Emon is an opener and he batted at four in the last match. All of them have done well. It is a positive sign when players know how to handle different situations, because it helps the team.”
Tanzid was asked about Ashraful’s remarks too, specifically whether he is prepared for the challenge of batting at number three or four instead of opening.
In his 45-match T20 career, Tanzid has batted at number three only twice. He said, “I have not played at three or four yet, so I cannot really say what the situation feels like. If I get that opportunity in the future, I will try to fulfil whatever the team demands from me.”
