National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain has said looting and corruption will not continue in new Bangladesh. He made the remarks while exchanging views with marginal people in Rahmatchar in Pirgachha Upazila of Rangpur district.
During the discussion, Akhtar highlighted the ongoing crisis in the country’s political culture, the misuse of muscle power, corruption, and other irregularities that plague society.
He also elaborated on the necessity of a new constitution, the framework for governance after 2024, and the steps required to realise the public aspirations.
The NCP leader said, “During the fascist regime, the people were only made to hear songs of development but in reality it was looting in the name of development.”
“The hard-earned money of expatriates and the working class was plundered and laundered abroad. Even the buildings constructed in the name of progress were funded by borrowed money from foreigners,” he added.
Akhtar continued that such a looting system will no longer continue in new Bangladesh. Every step taken to improve the lives of people will be held accountable.
During the meeting, he also listened to local people’s concerns and discussed possible solutions to their problems.
