National Citizen Party (NCP) has served ‘show cause’ notice to senior coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud for his alleged involvement with release of three activists of Students Against Discrimination (SAD) in a incident in Mohammadpur thana.
The notice served on Wednesday morning asked why he shall not be charged with breaking of organizational discipline. The notice said on Tuesday Dhanmondi thana police detained three SAD activists as they tried to create disturbance in residential area asserting identity as SAD coordinator. It said of the three accused one person is Saiful Alam Rabbi who earlier received organizational stricture on the grounds of moral turpitude.
“You were present in police station and signed bond to release them from detention,” the NCP statement said.
The notice signed by office secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat asked Abdul Hannan Masud to give reply to the chief of disciplinary committee within three working days.
In a facebook post NCP leader Hannan Masud claimed that following request from Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sajjat Ali he visited Dhanmondi police station. He also claimed that ‘mob justice’ was avoided after the intervention.
“Later, I came to know that one person who frequently tries to create mob under the banner of anti -fascist movement is also there. We are fully cooperating with the administration. Inshallah, main masterminds of mob creation would be arrested shortly. DMP has been informed,” Masud added.
