National Board of Revenue (NBR) has invited proposals and recommendations from stakeholders for the upcoming national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
In a notice issued on Monday, the revenue authority said it regularly consults trade bodies, professional organisations and other stakeholders ahead of the national budget to gather opinions on customs, value added tax and income tax-related matters.
Beyond domestic revenue considerations, Bangladesh’s commitments under the World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement and the country’s ongoing least developed country graduation process have made the upcoming budget particularly significant, it said.
In this context, aligning fiscal measures with international obligations and future trade competitiveness will be important in framing the 2026–27 budget, according to the notice.
For the new fiscal year, the board has requested specific proposals on customs duties, value added tax, income tax, regulatory duties, supplementary duties and other relevant fiscal issues.
Stakeholders have been asked to submit clear and well-structured recommendations along with justifications by 10 March 2026.
The consultations aim to make the budget more business-friendly, transparent and supportive of economic growth while ensuring revenue mobilisation targets are met, the notice added.
